I went to PKNS the other day, and it was almost lunch time. I went to G15. I ordered the nasi ayam goring berempah.

My order came less than 15 minutes. Because there weren't too many people at that time. My review is, the rice is nicely seasoned. As how nasi ayam's rice should taste like.  The ayam goreng is tasty, this is because that it was marinated before they fry it. Well cooked and it came with sauce. The sauce was just nice, but I like it better the chicken without the sauce. The sauce was sweet and not that spicy. These nasi ayam didn't cost that much, it was RM 5.00. just as cheap.DSC_0019

KYspeaks | KY eats Wiya Chicken Rice at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

A week or so ago I went to KK for a short working trip. Of the many places my career brought me, KK has always been one of my favorite spots, so I was glad that I had the chance to visit the city again after some 7-8 years since I last stepped foot on it.

I was incredibly blessed to have awesome friends from KK for brought me to lunches and dinners while I was there the entire time. After all, you can't get any better than having local food guides who knows the city in and out.

On the second day, Nelson, whom I got to know through some weird circumstances revolving a possible purchase of Aprilia motorcycle suspension (you can meet people from all sorts of settings kan?), came to my office and took me to the best chicken rice stall in KK for for lunch at Wiya Nasi Ayam dan Kedai Kopi.

Since there were only two of us, we ordered the steamed chicken and chasiu (bbq pork) with a side of vegetable to go with some rice.

The chicken rice here is served in a distinctive pyramid shape, which was kinda cute though it doesn't contribute to the way it tastes, obviously. The steamed chicken though, was smooth and quite delicious, with the chasiu tasting pretty decent as well.

As for the often neglected vitamin C entry, this vegetable dish was rather good. In fact, over my stay at KK I've found that the vegetable here tasted so much fresher, crunchier, and juicier than their peninsular counterpart.

For those who complains about the lack of good hawker food in KK, this is one place to check out. Thank you Nelson!

Resepi dan cara membuat nasi ayam

Resepi Nasi Ayam dah pernah or dah banyak kali kot tulis kat blog nie.. Tapi semalam aku tukar style lain.. Kalau korang nak try, boleh try yang ni.. dah lah simple, sedap pulak.. hahahahahah mampos puji diri lagi..

Tapi harap ampun la.. rumah aku takde ayam besar.. semua aku beli suruh siang kecik.. hahaha.. kalau korang plan nak buat nasi ayam.. beli ayam sekor potong 4 ok? baru umphhh!!

Dah mari salin resepi.. Masak nasi ayam untuk berbuka memang sesuai.. tak payah nak 3-4 macam lauk ;)

NASI AYAM
i) 3 pot beras (untuk keluarga kecilku)
ii) basuh beras bersih-bersih dan toskan

lemak dan kulit ayam (jangan buang.. basuh bersih dan guna untuk masak nasi)
i) 3 sudu majerin

(bahan tumbuk)
i) 3 ulas bawang merah
ii) 3 ulas bawang putih
iii) 1 inci halia

* on kan rice cooker anda.. bila dah panas, masukkan majerin.. tumis bahan tumbuk hingga perang.. masukkan lemak dan kulit ayam.. tumis sekali ya.. kemudian masukkan beras tadi dan kacau rata-rata hingga wangi.. membunuh ok bau dia time ni.. hahah.. kemudian masukkan sup dari rebusan ayam.. jangan banyak sangat air takut nasi menjadi lembik.. kurang tak pe.. Ok!! siap nasi ayam!!!! kalau sup tak cukup, pepandailah korang tambah air biasa ke apa.. hehehe

SUP
potongan ayam

(bahan tumbuk)
i) 4 biji bawang putih
ii) 2 biji bawang merah
iii) 2 inci halia

i) 1 kiub ayam
ii) daun sup
iii) daun bawang
iv) bawang goreng

*tak perlu tumis.. didihkan air.. lebur je ayam ngan bahan tumbuk tu.. campak kiub ayam.. masukkan garam.. bila ayam dah masak, tutup api.. keluarkan ayam dan toskan ayam.. sup tu bahagikan ye..separuh untuk masak nasi.. dan selebihnya untuk dimakan bersama nasi ayam.. campakkan daun sup, daun bawang dan bawang goreng sebagai hiasan ;)

AYAM
i) Bahan perap
ii) sos tiram
iii) kicap cair
iv) kicap manis
v) madu
vi) 3-4 titik minyak bijan
Lepas perap/lumurkan.. panaskan minyak.. dan goreng ayam.. tak perlu lama.. sebab ayam dah masak.. sampai nampak cantik je terus angkat.. potong-potong ayam macam kat stall nasi ayam :)

KUAH LADA
i) 4-5 lada hidup (merah)
ii) 1 biji bawang putih
iii) sedikit gula
iv) sedikit garam
v) 1/2 sudu kecil cuka
vi) 2 sudu makan cili sos
*blend kesemua bahan.. cili sos tak yah blend dulu pon takpe.. kemudian panaskan periuk.. tambah air dan cili sos (ikut tahap kepekatan masing-masing)

KUAH KICAP
*Guna balance perapan ayam tadi.. campurkan dengan kuah sup.. kalau cair.. tambah lagi kicap manis..

Senangkan? InsyaAllah walaupon simple je.. tapi rasa dia mengagumkan.. ok, disebabkan tu juadah untuk berbuka puasakan... rasa tak berapa best kalau menu itu je satu.. so aku buat cekodok bilis.. rangup-rangup makan dengan cili sos.. Acih sorang je hadap berapa ketul.. puas hati tengok semua orang suka ;) aku tak makan pon tak pe.. waaaahhh ibu mithali sangat ni.. hahahaha...

I love to cook.  I know I can cook but I hate to bake cakes or biscuits.
I love it very much if the people I serve with my dishes enjoy the food and be satisfied.
One of them has left me forever.

I cook less and lesser nowadays. I cook simple food for my kids.  Simple, fast but healthy. I normally cook chicken rice, spaghetti, fried rice, fried mihun, varieties of chicken dishes and sometimes a dish of vege and fish/seafood nowadays.  Not forgetting Barry's favourite, lamb curry.

No more meriah-meriah like curry fish head, sayur terung asam or even tempoyak goreng.

It is my dream to open up a kedai makan in future.
Few of my ladies colleague have agreed to team up.
What will we serve?
Authentic dayak food, cheap and affordable but no cincai-cincai ones.
We have aimed our potential customers....hehehehe

Let me share my super express way of cooking nasi ayam or chicken rice.
My sis did ask for the recipe yesterday morning.

1.  Marinate the chicken pieces with pound ginger and 'sesedap rasa' or 'secukup rasa' whichever yang you ada.  No need salt or ajinomoto. But you need to put some sesame oil and dashes of black pepper. You can also add up the chicken cube. Kalau big family more chicken pieces lah.  Kalau small family, lesser lah. But kalau ada yang kuat makan, and akan bertambah-tambah u agak-agaklah.  It would be better if you can marinate the chicken for a few hours but usually mine is just about half an hour.

2.  Then the rice.  Prepare your rice for cooking as normally you do.  Once you have measured the water level bla bla bla.... arrange the marinated chicken pieces on top.  Throw in a few teaspoon of butter if you want the extra ummmph.  You can also throw in daun pandan for extra aroma.

3.  Switch on your rice cooker and leave it to cook macam biasa.

4. Tadaa...... Nasi Ayam Super Express siap untuk dimakan!

Tak percaya? Give it a try.  Prepare your own chili sauce but I prefer mine to be eaten with dashes of Kicap ABC.  Dont forget to serve it with slices of cucumber or salad.

Happy cooking guys!

Note:  Kena jangkit Miss Ophelia and Madam Dinah posting a recipe entry... hehehe :)
